Do not go with this company.
They were great at first, but my server has been offline for the last two months and my support tickets have gone ignored. The company's facebook page conveniently vanished, and their twitter is silent too. The only thing that seems to be working is their bill invoicing system.
Fly-by-night company. Avoid at all costs.
The reviews here are fake except for this one. They literally set my server to a competitor's and did not tell me. Nor will they fix it while charging me for it. They ignore me on twitter, ignore support tickets and are the worst hosting company I've ever seen.
Worked for me!
I've used plenty of Minecraft servers. (I've done a few reviews on this site, and many on others as I currently own 6 servers, each from different hosts.) Honestly, McPowerHosting is up there at the top of my list, probably competing for the number one/two spot.
I can't find anything to complain about. The servers have been fast, and to this day, I haven't had a player so much as say a word about lag, though it is a small server.
It worked for me, and I can't complain. For anyone looking to play Minecraft without the hassle of running it on your PC, this is for you. Not too expensive either!
They even have a FTB/Tekkit installation service. I had them install Tekkit Classic for me and it worked perfectly.
It seems like some people have had a bad experience here. (Or, the same person who got pissed repeated the review a few times)
I have had a pretty good experience with McPowerHosting. I started with a stone package, for the dev phase. I built up my server, and upgraded it easily to a diamond package.
Once in the diamond package, I ran it public, and with no player cap, I was able to get 50 people average with no lag.
Once I felt I was pushing the limits a bit with 50-60 average players, I upgraded again to emerald, and it is still just as great.
So far, I have no lag, and I own 4 servers with them. (One public, one FTB, one Pixelmon, one private vanilla)
They all run smoothly. I would suggest this for anyone but specifically these 3 groups - Players who want a smooth public server, people who want an easy to run private server, and people who want to run modpacks, as it's much faster than running them off your computer.
Shit company! Horrible support! No help! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! ANY REVIEW THAT IS NOT 1/5 IS A SCAM!
I purchased a minecraft server with the BigDig mod pack installed. After the first month I received an email stating that I was delinquent in payment and that my server had been shut off. I paid right away to restore access to my server. Two days later the automatic payment set up through paypal by MCPower Hosting withdrew a second payment from my account. They scammed me into paying twice.
One month later I go out of town for a week and come back to find that I cannot log into my server. There is a little red "1.7.2" above the ping display indicating that the server and client I am using are out of sync. I looked at the control panel for the server and the JAR file setting had spontaneously reverted from the "default" JAR, with all the BigDig mods to "Vanilla Minecraft 1.7.2". Because the server had been running with the Vanilla JAR file everything in the world that wasn't vanilla minecraft was gone.
When I asked the support team how this setting reverted to Vanilla Minecraft they gave a one sentence answer. "Change your password."
No one hacked my Minecraft server control panel and changed one random JAR setting to Vanilla Minecraft.
Horrible business practices.
Horrible server technology.
Horrible support staff.
Avoid MC Power Hosting at all costs. They will scam you.
Contrary to most of the reviews here I have had an extremely poor time trying to get any support from this website. As my review shows the server runs fine, but I have been contacting support for several days with an issue I want resolved and have been getting little to no response back. It is frustrating to have such a negative experience and I would have been more than happy to have given them a positive review had I felt they earned it.
Here's an ex-customer's experience and opinion-
Very odd how all of the positive posts for McPower Hosting specifically talk about "great customer service".... makes me wonder which employee wrote them. My brief experience with the McDonald's of MineCraft hosting was TERRIBLE and ended in a complaint to PayPal to get my money back.
They DO NOT RESPOND to support requests. They do however immediately reply when PayPal sends them a refund email. They actually blamed me for sending my support request to a "random" email address. What they did not mention was that the email address I used (more than once) was the support address they sent to me after they collected my $.
Even after the PayPal dispute was opened they still did not offer to help me resolve my support problem. They would rather fight their customers to keep their $, than support them and help their customer!
I think this McPower McDonald's hosting business must interfere with their daytime jobs~ hopefully NOT in customer service.
There are MUCH better Minecraft hosting services available- be leery of shilled positive "customer service" reviews. If you do order from these amateurs, be sure it is with a service that will intercede on your behalf to get your refund.
